Parking Energy Services and Waybler: Partnering to Energize Luxembourg's EV Market

Recently, we had the opportunity to talk to Marina Mouravieva, Director of Parking Energy Services.

Parking Energy Services was founded in 2019 with the aim of meeting the growing market demand for EV charging in Luxembourg. Even though the field itself might be seen as within the tech segment, they have never viewed themselves as a Tech Startup company, but rather as a business that wants to integrate existing technology into the market.

How did Luxembourg get on Waybler’s radar?

Marina met Wayblers CEO Kurt Högnelid during a convention in Paris in 2020 and after some conversations about both parties’ business offerings, Marina frankly asked Kurt if Waybler was ready to enter the Luxembourg market – and since that day, the partnership was sealed, and it has flourished ever since. PES uses Waybler’s charging stations and software in basically all cases where intelligent charging is needed. Therefore, they promote the Waybler system to all offerings towards companies and larger housing associations – just like Waybler does in Sweden. Nevertheless, they also offer solutions for single housings – and in that sense, they have a solution for all markets in Luxembourg.

We define ourselves as a provider of charging with a turnkey package; we do everything from the initial sales phase with the attached needs analysis to installations and support. This enables us to build a trustworthy brand with a holistic perspective on our customer relationships, says Marina Mouravieva.

Besides EV charging, PES has a 360-degree view of the needs and wants of their customers, and due to that, they also offer the opportunity to their customers to add integrated solar panels and battery storage – all to be the one-stop shop for renewable installations.

So much is happening in our business segment, and to be able to keep up and offer the best options, we need to partner up with others who are experts within their area. This gives us the opportunity to be the premium one-stop shop within EV charging and energy solutions, as we take pride in saying that we are. Marina explains.

Close relationship with Waybler

Since PES has been with Waybler for many years, Marina has had the opportunity to see Waybler grow and evolve to fit the greater market needs. They have always been impressed by the technology that Waybler is able to provide, both in terms of load management to be energy efficient, but also the flexibility and opportunities that come with the software of Waybler Connect. Besides that, the launch of Dynamic was a much-appreciated development since Dynamic has an aesthetic that appealed to a lot of PES customers with its sleek yet robust design.

Besides the fact that we are very happy with the actual products that Waybler provides, we value the human relationships that have grown during the last years. Honestly, the opportunity for that close human contact both in the management sector and operational was a game-changer for our development with Waybler in the Luxembourg market, says Marina.

The Luxembourg Market

Marina explains that Luxembourg is still a little bit behind the nordic countries when it comes to EV cars when looking at the differentiation in percentage between EVs and fossil-driven cars, but there has been a massive catching up during the last years.

As in Sweden, there are subsidies offered to those who install EV charging for real estate, which is an important accelerator to the EV shift. There is a big proportion of fleet cars in Luxembourg which has led to corporate being by far the biggest area of sales for PES and other charging providers. And due to hard regulations for installations for condominiums, it has been a market that has been lagging a bit behind – it has simply been quite hard to follow through with proper EV charging installations in that market, but a shift can be seen in that market too during the last months due to higher pressure on chargers when the number of EVs are rising not only in the fleet segments.

The future?

We have a nationwide target to increase the EV fleet in our country, which we all strive towards, but there have been some setbacks during the last year. Mainly due to rising interests and energy prices which can be seen all over Europe. But we have seen this decrease mostly in the private sector. To be honest, we can see that the decrease is smoothing out, and I would like to go out on a limb here and rather call it a small hiccup on the road towards the goals for electrification, says Marina Mouravieva.

In the Luxembourg market, the aim stands for extending and developing the EV involvement. Today the emphasis for PES is towards new installations, but thanks to smart software systems and possibilities to integrate third-party chargers via OCPP, Marina believes that the future will be leaned more towards services rather than installations.

We (Waybler) could not agree more – and we look forward to many more years of successful partnership with PES.
